545 Architect | The Tobacco Barn Influence
The Tobacco Barn Influence by 545 Architect takes cues from the massing and mechanism of an American tobacco barn to keep the lines clean and uninvolved (labor is money). The tobacco barn employs one large simple gabled massing with built in “venting” operations (hinging, sliding).
The simple hardi-board siding of black shakes and cedar-colored siding are used inside and outside to articulate overlapping public and private zones of the house. The flatness of the massing (no overhangs, flush windows) are reminiscent of the flat, hinged tobacco barn walls.
