One Design | Rovi’s Restaurant

Nearby a pedestrian area in the center of Alexandria city, in Southern Romania, One Design team architects created an attractive and warm interior for Rovi’s Restaurant. A visualization of tradition in a modern wooden entourage to attract clientele and make them feel comfortable.

The architects mission was to transform a former club in the attic of a building into a cosy, elegant and select restaurant. They were briefed to complete a complex restaurant – with a grill bar, a summer terrace and a kitchen, used also for a home delivery service.

Even the owner is an admirer of wood, he did not want a rustic restaurant for himself and he had deeply confidence in the architects proposal.

Besides a highly contemporary concept based on wood, the restaurant owner wanted also that the illumination of the entire space be made indirectly.

Therefore, „we tried to use primary materials: wood, stone and steel. We made that in a total area of 160 square meters choosing a wooden cieling, which should inspire duality. Seen from one side of the room, the ceiling seems to be made entirely of wood. From the other side, the lightning is in foreground. In this way, the location does not have a rustic appearance. What is more, the ceiling responded to another request – it hid the HVAC installation.”

The walls are covered with four-colours painted wood with a line of light at a superior level, which highlights the entire design. In contrast with these glossy surfaces, the sofas and the chairs designed in simple lines are covered with a beige and orange, rough texture material. In order to „cool down” the warm atmosphere the designers chose a sand colour Corian® bar.

The furniture, the Corian® bar, the carpet were especially designed by One Design team for the Rovi’s Restaurant. They managed to accomplish their customer and to create a great environment of his clientele.
