The geometric configuration of the space, the intended functionality and the limits of the existent structure that develop in two floors determined the organization of some spaces and the image of the establishment.
Thus, the architects understand to implant, in the -1 floor, the warehouse, dressing rooms Male and Female of the staff and the sanitary installations of the public. In the 0 floor, the destined spaces to the public are developed fluidly from the cloakroom, it separates the interior spaces and exterior. After the cloakroom, the architects implemented a volume with sanitary installation of support the users of reduced mobility, that it marks the access to the stairs, connection between floors. Finally, they ended the background of the space with a support bar that also functions as closing of the dance track.
The image of the bar grew from “the treatment” of the walls and roofs, its have different heights, are harmonized by the red colour and by “cuts” in its materials for the introduction of artificial light. It was intended to give different dimensions to the roof to increase height and air volume, to comply with the law, because we were dependent of the existing flagstone for structural reasons.Location: Portugal Architects: AVA – Atelier Veloso Architects (AVA-Architects) | Carlos Jorge Coelho Veloso, Rui Filipe Coelho Veloso
