The Resort, Campustown’s new upscale amenities facility, finished its final phase to complete the project’s vision in November of 2012. Beal | Derkenne Construction has created a comfortable, modern building through the use of simple building materials that is directed towards Campustown’s goal of building a community through friendship and excitement. The project connects existing Campustown buildings and is the cornerstone for the campus community.

Beal | Derkenne Construction | The ResortThe three-story building features an amenities center located on the first and second floors which includes a fitness center, swimming pool, yoga, tanning beds, sauna, lounge chairs, outdoor grilling, and an outdoor sundeck and picnic area. Four fully-furnished, modern apartments with sleek cabinetry and stainless steel appliances are also tucked away on the third floor. Exposed ceilings and ductwork decorate the living areas and fitness room adding to the modern aesthetic of the project. Local building ordinances required a 12 foot fence to surround the entire perimeter of the property. This was successfully incorporated into the design by constructing a green screen mesh enclosure with growing vines, acting as both a deterrent to nighttime trespassers and as a sustainable backdrop for the pool and patio deck.

Beal | Derkenne Construction | The ResortThis infill project transformed an open lot nestled in between two existing structures into a property that can adequately keep up with the busy lifestyles of young students. With an eight-story structure directly to the north and an existing 2-story building with a basement foundation less than five feet from the southern facade, initial site accessibility was restricted to the eastern property line during construction. Careful planning was required to ensure the new structural foundation walls did not undermine any existing building foundations. BDC also re-waterproofed neighboring foundations as a preventative measure during the project.

Beal | Derkenne Construction | The ResortThe Resort contributes to the local community by offering Campustown residents a place to gather, relax, and play. It adds vibrancy to the surrounding neighborhood by bringing young residents to the area and offers a wide array of social activities revolving around health and relaxation.
