This Project started with a conceptual proposal for facades and interiors establishing a dialogue with the ratio of a busy street, in which the building is located, and its transition to the calm landscape of the forest at the back of the building. The vertical strips in wood and white aluminum at the bottom of the building establishes a transition between the inside and outside, filtering the street ratio and the garden situated at the ground floor strengthen this transition. A successful department store had moved forward with plans to expand and occupy what was once a very important open urban space at the busy intersection of Insurgentes and Felix Cuevas avenues in the southern quadrant of Mexico City. With the opening of a new subway line station at the corner of the site, and its subsequent increase in pedestrian traffic and transport transfer activity, it became apparent that the typical closed retail “big box” model had to be questioned and a new identity given to the existing store’s façade to achieve a more dynamic urban presence and promote the brand. House facing a green square. The front façade is oriented to the northwest overlooking a square with trees. Downstairs there’s a garage and access, living rooms, veranda and service spaces; upstairs, four bedrooms, restrooms, a second living room and a veranda. We tried to provide it with a maximum continuity of space, removing barriers wherever possible. Special attention was given to natural and artificial lighting and integration with the outside world. This project for the Shanghai Natural History Museum is consistent with Chinese garden design in that it approaches the spirit of nature, but does not imitate it. Through its relationship to the site, it represents the harmony of man and nature and is an abstraction of the basic elements of Chinese art and design. The museum sits adjacent to an urban sculpture park. The shape and building organization are inspired by the nautilus shell, one the purest geometric forms found in nature. [Read more]

Being inspired by the geological process of the large-scale movements of the earth‘s crust and its tectonic forces, all end up to initial clues to co-operate for drawing up Polour Rock Climbing Hall. This is the winning entry for a competition put forward by the ministry of public works. The main target behind this project was to create an entity to house the High Judiciary Court in Jordan, and distinguish it from the other types of courts by providing it with its own separate building. The importance of this project lies in it being a governmental facility specially designed for the implementation of the law as the higher authority in Jordan, and as such, the building assumes two images: the first lies in it being a governmental facility in terms of importance, stability, and formality; and the second reflects the concepts relative to law and order in terms of transparency, justice, independence, equality, and order. Paul Davis + Partners Hong Kong office (pdp [east]) has revealed designs for an ambitious mixed-use scheme to be located at the heart of the newly created high tech zone in Ningbo, one of China’s oldest cities. The Smart City Masterplan is a 120,000 sq m development comprising a mix of residential, offices and retail. The striking design employs a layout that is both human in scale and welcoming to users.The scheme is divided into two zones – the central zone, which includes four office towers and a low-rise office campus, and the riverfront zone, where either commercial units or luxury villas are proposed.
