The library of the university in Erlangen, errected beginning of the nineteen-seventies, was getting a bit long in the tooth and doesn’t comply anymore to today’s energy requests. Urgent renovation work has been undertaken with regard to the roof, the façade and lightning. After completion of the renovation energy saving of 352 000 kg CO2 resp. 1 100 000 kWh per year will be reached.
In connection with the necessary thermal insulation the façade has been changed. The concept of “Brückner & Brückner Architects” opens the formerly closed and monolithic façade of exposed concrete. The façade of the base construction and the “book tower” are now optically joint by vertically traversing ribbons made of ALUCOBOND.Location: Erlangen, Deutschland, Germany Architect: Brückner & Brückner Architekten Product: ALUCOBOND Anodized Look CO/EV1 & Anodized Look C32 Year: 2012
