Concept & Competition DWGBA Estudio | El Polo informático en Tandil

DWGBA Estudio | El Polo informático en TandilThe location of the Project is in the countryside so our main interest was create a building with a strong sense of public space in relation with future expansion of the town, both for business and social activities. It was also released as a part of a whole to be connected to the plot of the city and also with a strong image of a sustainable architecture.

DWGBA Estudio | El Polo informático en TandilThe building should have a strong public area sense with social activities and an administration, and a private zone for offices. In this sense we conceive a building with a clear organization gathering business sector establishing a differentiation from the public domains. The composition was designed as a whole headed to a future park expansion. It was conceived as a bar of two levels separated from the ground and oriented North East , producing the illusion of a floating body, but actually resting on a plant located at -4.92 feet which had the rest of the program linked directly to the public spaces, where the general access of the building is located.

DWGBA Estudio | El Polo informático en TandilThis particular level is grouped around a courtyard protected from the wind allowing the development of outside activities either private or public activities, as a way to integrate the building with the everyday life of the city.

Companies sector
It was released on a two levels fully oriented towards the North East direction and seek the best views, leaving the South side to circulations configuring a double height gallery consists of a lightweight gateway that allows special fluidity and play of light.

DWGBA Estudio | El Polo informático en TandilThis two levels bar is built is oriented towards the North East direction seeking for the best views, and leaving the South side for aisles and internal social areas; These are composed in a double height gallery allowing spatial fluidity playing with the natural light from different materials and textures proposing a common expansion in the sector; the South side facade,as well, is composed of a light weight glass facade printed on local plants motifs designed in a free form, allowing the passage of light on the double height space headed to generate a contained environment – for transition or staying – for this sector specific uses.

DWGBA Estudio | El Polo informático en TandilThe North face is closed with a double skin – the glass and brise soleils – which generates expansions and small terraces for each office and a major expansion next to the main circulation using natural light .Both uses – protect and expand – work in order to improve the space quality of the working spaces.

Public space.

The access floor, which is located at -4.92 feet in order to proposed an access to the building itself but also to make a connection to public or semi public spaces such as restaurant, bar, management building office, multipurpose room, playground, shops or ATMs. This access is conceived as a public square that can be used as an expansion for food services, public events or the amphitheatre.  For our proposal the relation between public space and the office building is a strong issue to consider and develop.

DWGBA Estudio | El Polo informático en TandilEnergy.

The building was designed taking advantage of the guidelines and providing it with a mixed system of electric power, wind, solar and hybrid ventilation. The power generation is held-for common areas and emergency services in principle through an entire solar panel plant located in the main deck and vertical wind generators high performance. The air conditioning system has natural air intake filter and injection without the use of chillers when not required by extreme climate issues but alternating with the use of natural ventilation, which presupposes, in addition to health-related benefits, operation and maintenance economy.
