Jordi Herrero Campo | Administrative Center in El ArenalHeraclito argued that the foundation of everything is in the incessant change. Parmenides focused on the permanence. I am interested in the conflict between both positions.nThe sea surface, the fire, the darkness of the forest, being always the same elements, are they always different.  The building is an abstract volume whose surface changes in every moment depending on the light and on the angle of sight, as it was a chameleon.

Russian Doll

The proposal is a reform of a former building with two performances. In the outside was performed a maintenance work, a sanitation work and it was painted in dark green the existent volume, just opening and adjusting some hollows.Furthermore, it was built a shell of silk- screen printed glass surrounding the building, according to the Russian dolls scheme. The double skin created allows a high bioclimatic performance. In summer, the screen printed glass protects from sun radiation and through the double skin an ascendant air flow is generated. In winter, this space works as isolation from the outside temperature.

In the inside, with high areas and double spaces, to organize the program a system of glass boxes was implemented. Over it, a white perforated shell floats and it works too as a false ceiling. The final result is a space full of reflects, transparencies and filtered lights; all together creating an ambiguous perception.
