The restaurant ‘Rechtvaardige Rechters’ in Ghent was in need of a full renovation. The original line-up of the tables was disorderly and the seats appeared quite heavily-built. The color palette didn’t match and the illumination was not balanced. It was time for a few interventions.

juma-architects-rechtvaardige-rechters-gent-0379First of all JUMA wants to bring structure to design by a long leather sofa were all tables can be arranged. The sofa was conducted in a warm cognac color and invites to have a great dinner.

juma-architects-rechtvaardige-rechters-gent-0380The wooden table tops provide a natural accent that contrasted with the sophisticated design of the typical black Thonet chair.

juma-architects-rechtvaardige-rechters-gent-WEBTo emphasize the young character of the restaurant the grafic designer Valentine De Cort was asked to draw a large wall drawing of the playful life under the ever-imposing Cathedral.

juma-architects-rechtvaardige-rechters-gent-0408copyWhat concerns the lightning JUMA has chosen for a mix of different types of light fixtures which contribute to a cosy atmosphere.

juma-architects-rechtvaardige-rechters-gent-0392-copyEspecially the large copper spherical pendant lamp attracts attention while the white tight fixtures on the ceiling, with their directional spot lights remain discreet.

juma-architects-rechtvaardige-rechters-gent-0391Furthermore, some walls got a soft, shiny fabric. The natural stone used for the existing bar is the eye catcher of the restaurant. And the veined, polished stone gives the restaurant the necessary allure it deserves.
