The Kuweit University Teaching School, project proposal made by Perkins + Will agency, is an example of ‘openness’ to nature which allows one to discover the environment – an analogy to the learning process through which we can intellectually develop by being open to ‘new‘ (which includes the notions of surprise and spontaneity) and searching, experimenting, discovering it gradually.
The School itself becomes a sort of ‘living’ nature experience, a true metaphor of the oasis, geographically and historically justified. It reflects the desire of greenery, a constant mirage, and it is an example of ecological architectural approach that challenges the conventional techniques.
Beyond the implementation of green roofs, gardens, observatories, playgrounds, there is the aim to create environments that break out the barrier in-between the ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ notions by pushing the “framework” of the conventional learning-class at the height of its own definition and allowing a real, active experimentation of things.
