The architect Guilherme Torres was invited by the Vitacon Company to participate in a retrofit, but it’s important to notice that it was more that a reform, but actuallyt a process of re-adaptation of an old structure to a new use. The original design dates back to the years 1980, “a shady Mediterranean style, dark and dull”, in the words of the architect. Originally functioned as a flat for decades, to be born renovated as an apartment building of 1 or 2 bedrooms, close to the Paulista Avenue.

GT VN Campinas 12Guilherme, known for its young and daring projects, had carte blanche in conceptual terms to bring the building to this day. Radical reform: demolished – if the tiny branches that simulated balconies and all possible openings, respecting the structural limits. Instead of dull paint, the whole building was coated with an aluminum structure source from Germany, forming monolithic structures, framed by an aluminum exoskeleton painted in Orange, with LED lighting.

GT VN Campinas 11In place of the tiny frames (little Windows of bathrooms, living room and kitchen), large spans closed by metal muxarabis provide small gardens, forming a Green filter between the apartments and its surroundings. The joinery is part of the apartment: some walls have concealed cabinets and finish to the bathroom box, leaving the more elegant and minimalist volumes. The floor is of white epoxy throughout the enterprise, common areas to the apartments, and all the furniture is in bamboo, sustainable alternative and with high standard of finish. Illumination with LED strips also will be delivered as an integral part of the property, which will have a minimum consumption of electric energy, in addition to practically not depend on air conditioners, because thanks to new openings, the air circulation goes without stop.
