Casa ALMARE is situated on a cliff overlooking Bahía de Banderas. The extraordinary beauty of its location provides the inspiration for the project’s contemporary architecture. The design was put together by a fine team of architects, designers and builders: Elias Rizo Architects, winners of numerous national and international awards oversaw the project; Manuel Morales responsible for bringing the project to life with painstaking attention to every detail of the construction, and Interiorismo Colectivo put the final touches to the project with a careful selection of ambience and furnishing.
The two driving motifs of the project were the verticality of the site and its direct contact with the ocean. The project develops through four floors that take advantage of the breathtaking views of the bay. From the moment you arrive, the main entrance has a direct and uninterrupted view of the ocean and the horizon, hinting at what one will find throughout the whole of the project. The street façade conceals the size of the house with its discreet appearance, but it displays the clean lines and careful aesthetic of the whole project.
The top floor, which is at street level, is comprised of two blocks divided by a central patio but connected by a bridge. The first block contains the main entrance, parking, storage areas, engine room, staff dormitory (with bathroom); the second block forms a lobby terrace area, with bathroom, bar and a laundry room.
The patio that divides the top floor opens up on all four floors, becoming a buffer between the house and the cliff. It functions as a lightwell and as ventilation for all service areas which face towards the patio, allowing the rooms to encompass the whole oceanside façade. The patio wall that serves as containment wall for the cliff is covered with masonry that spans the whole height of the wall.
The two floors immediately below contain four suites – two per floor – each with its own bathroom, dressing room and terrace with private pool. Finally, on the bottom floor, we find the living and dining areas, kitchen and store area, laundry, the master suite with bathroom and dressing room, and the main terrace with infinity-edge pool and guest bathroom.Location: Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México Architect: Elías Rizo Arquitectos | Elías Rizo Suárez, Alejandro Rizo Suárez
