Renzo PIANO – (2001) – BIOSFERA (Genova – Italy)

The sphere of glass and steel located in the sea next to the Aquarium is home to butterflies, iguanas, several species of ferns and tropical plants that can live thanks to a special provision that automatically raised the curtains on the inside of the ball can penetrate to an adequate level of solar heat from the outside. It was designed by the architect Renzo Piano [http://www.rpbw.com/] and opened in 2001 as a symbol of the world at the G8 summit in Genoa.

 Today, a visit inside the sphere [44°24'35.17"N - 8°55'31.76"E] is an integral part of the route offered by the Genoa’s Aquarium.
