Furniture aastudio | Melted snow

aastudio | Melted snowThe inception of the process was an idea to create an original, contemporary and unique object. Most of all however, to reflect within the concept a Romanian feature over a commonly used object: a table. The form of the table resembles the shape of a rock formation covered with snow called ‘Babele’ from the Carpathian Mountains.

Corian became the perfect metaphor for the snow covering the table. The following step was a rough stylization process, an organic volumetric metamorphosis of what was to become the table. For the tabletop we wanted to create the impression of a stone hanged in console – Corian -, which is supported by a massive structure -stratified wood which is resistant enough to support the Corian mesh and also has an intriguing texture.
