Our interior design studio has carried out the interior architecture of a house in Barcelona. A design that was made using architectural plans by Canadés Architects studio, sharing and designing the interior until a consensus on the complete job was reached. It was built from scratch, with the help of the entire creative team, developing a construction job with decorative finishes and desired results.
The landlords wanted an interior design work that reflected a contemporary and timeless style, with wide spaces and equipped with domotic high technology. We fully adapt to the taste and needs of the people who inhabit the house, to get balance, harmony and good energy. The house had to be made with very strong materials for good maintenance and healthy aging over time. All the materials were chosen in conjunction with the property, and the functionality was valued, often prioritizing on aesthetics. An important objective was the coordination of the overall work with the integration of the guilds who performed the installations according to the final design, building and decorating at the same time.
A lot of furnitures were designed. The area distribution is a very important issue in interior design, providing spaces and crossings with their adequate closings, such as sliding walls or designed doors. We have to keep in mind that the volumes of the furnitures are part of this dance that creates the symphony of all decoration, dressing them with the right materials so that, in turn, form a complete graphic composition. The master suite, the dressing room and the headboard stand up, forming intimate spaces and giving motion to the whole group: sliding walls that hide shelves and also acting as gateways, or the desk in the living room, with a set of LEDs, that gives different levels of continuity, transparency and depth, freeing low modules well illuminated that give light to the hallway creating mystery. This way the whole house acquires a common thread so that the overall composition reaches a full meaning. This principle of interior architecture helps to settle a good basis for the owners to chose the decoration as they want, achieving precisely another one of the objectives: to make it THEIR HOME.
Among all the custom-designed furnitures that we have produced, the stairs stand out. A hand-crafted job made in collaboration with the ICESA cabinetmaker’s workshop. These stairs were finally extended reaching the basement, where the winery is located together with the DIY room, sauna, gym and garage. The furniture collection was chosen together with the property according to their tastes. The dining table stands with two feet of steel and glass table from Cassina and the New Anna leather chairs of Andreu World. In the lounge, black leather sofas of Grassoler, two red leather armchairs of Poltrona Frau, side tables with leather top of Mateo Grassi and a Sumo coffee table with glass of Emmemboli. The decoration of the music room is complemented by a technical table and chair, both of Vitra.
For the pavements we selected a concrete ceramic tile and varnished oak table. On the walls we chose oak paneling and lacquer according to the design and, as winks, decorative painting of Wallpaper imitating iron and concrete. The remaining walls were painted in white. Following our clients preferences, the lighting was chosen based on modular spot-lights of Deltalight, supplemented with LED strips in strategic locations and embedded in the woodwork. Decorative lamps were arranged to enhance most living places, such as Skygarden lamps of Flos located in the dining room or the kitchen lamp of Marcet. In the living room we placed Vivia lamps, Jazz model, and the Galilee model of Karpien, and three hanging lamps from Foscarini for the music room. Lamps for the bedside tables are Naomi model of Karpien. All lighting equipment was supplied by Gaudir.
The most prominent area is the dining room due to its transparency and stays with double-height levels, united by the fireplace, which acts as a vertical axis, giving the feeling that supports all the levels. The dining room ceiling is made of oak slats which on their continuity act like a railing in the music room. One of the most enjoyable places to design was the small toilet inspired by the colors and image of the Barcelona football club, of which the client is a great supporter. It was a very pleasant arm-wrestle to see what we would be able to create, overcoming the challenge at the end. Our main satisfaction has been fulfilling the expectations of the owners, who feel very happy with the result. They now enjoy a home that definitely fits their personality and which is ready to be shared with family and friends.Location: Barcelona, Spain
