Risco Architects | Altis Belém HotelSynopsis
The Altis Belém Hotel is located on the city of Lisbon’s riverfront, between the Bom Sucesso Dock and the Popular Art Museum. The main structure was designed perpendicular to the Tagus River, a 3-storey parallelepiped with a “classic” front facing the Dock, in transparent serigraphed glass, allowing every room to have a river view.  To the East, the smaller 2-storey structure, perpendicular to the previous one, creates formal relationships that are at the scale of the Popular Art Museum building.

Comprising 42 rooms, this ambitious and cosmopolitan 5-star hotel opens itself in earnest onto the riverside promenade from the completely accessible and pervious ground floor, with a plan for shops, restaurants, café, bar and outdoor esplanades, as well as a program for recreational nautical sports facilities. The building’s entire interior features a dramatic and sophisticated ambience, where the visual and formal concern focuses primarily on proportion, light and matter.
